DARCY-SYMMES CADET LEVEL FOOTBALL
TRYOUTS AND PRACTICES
Dear Student/ Parent,
The Cadet level coaching staff is pleased to announce that tryouts and practices for the Darcy Competitive Cadet Football team (Age 14 and under as of September 30) will be held at the Darcy field between the hours of 4:30 to 6:00 PM from August 17-19 and during the same hours from August 24-28. During the first week, players will wear ‘light thud’ equipment (helmets and shoulder pads—no football pants); cleats are necessary.
The practices during week 1 will focus exclusively on offensive skills. In the competitive division, players can play both offense and defence; so all players will be evaluated on both sides of the ball. During the second week, players will dress in full equipment and be assigned positions. The final roster for the first game will be announced towards the end of the second week and the selected players will be playing our first game on Sunday, August 30 against Ashbury College. The next game against Nicholas Gatineau will be held on September 2. Those players who do not initially make the Competitive level team will
continue to be evaluated throughout the season and always have the chance of being called up to the competitive level. In the meantime, those who do not initially make the competitive team will have the chance to play for the Developmental level Cadet team whose schedule begins during the second week of September. During the season, both teams will practice twice a week unless otherwise notified.
The competitive level tryouts are open to any student-player who is entering grade 8 or 9 in the fall. Under certain circumstances, the coaching staff may select a grade 7 player to try out for the Competitive Team (invitation only). Practices for the grade 7 team will begin during the first week of school.

IMPORTANT: For those who haven’t as yet picked up equipment: You can pick up equipment on Sunday evening August 16 at the Darcy Field between the hours of 5:00 and 6:00PM.
